((Open to all ^^))
The time was night and the air was chilly. The only light visible was that of the full moon that shone brightly over the river. A couple of humans stood on the bridge overlooking the river in all its nighttime glory. Watching from the shadows was a pair of dark brown eyes that were almost invisible in the darkness because they looked black. The eyes were full of hatred and scorn at the human pair who didn't notice the menace lurking on the shadows. The humans clasped hands and took in the sight of the full moon and the peaceful river meanwhile the lurker sneered. All humans care about are themselves, the selfish bastards, thought the lurker as the humans began to move away from the bridge and carry on with their night life. That was the opportunity that the watcher was waiting for. When all became quiet, the figure stepped forth into the moonlight and onto the bridge.
The figured had a muscular body with black fur and tan markings. The seemingly black eyes were now clearly dark brown and they seemed cold as the waters of the river itself. She was a dog, a Rottweiler to be exact, and a purebred one at that. The bitch gazed down at the water and sat down on the bridge. Her whole body was on alert since any human could just walk right up on the bridge and disturb her and that was the last thing that she wanted. She didn't need a confrontation and was getting tired of them, and that was why she waited for the human pair to walk away before exploring the bridge herself.
As the female gazed down at the water, at her reflection, she had a flashback from her past.
She was standing in a cold metal cage that smelled like blood and the air around her was dark and cold. She couldn't here anything else besides her breathing which was filled with nervous tension. Her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest and onto the floor where it was going to be squashed by a human foot. She glanced nervously around trying to take a guess at what was happening, but she already knew.
Suddenly, light filled the entire room which was small and no bigger than the adult version of her breed. She was young; only about 6 months. It was her first match. She was going up against a fellow Rottweiler who was not much older than herself. That was because her opponent was her own brother. The humans thought that it would be good to pit the youngsters against one another to see who the top pup was. Cruel, yes, but it wasn't as cruel as it could have been. It wasn't a death fight, only a submission fight. Later on she would eventually face her brother in a death fight but not now. For a few months they had trained her in the basics of fighting but that was it. Now it was her first fight and the humans would see what she was made of. If she fought successfully and won, then the humans would keep her. If not and she lost, then well her fate as a dog fighter was shaky at best.
The humans sat around a huge cage that had a hard light colored floor and metal bars closing it in. The humans could see in but the dogs would have a hard time seeing out because there were lights shining into the caged arena. Within moments they all began chanting something that the young pup could not understand.
Without warning, the door to her cage flung open and she was able to approach the second gate that led straight into the arena. But she hesitated. That was her biggest mistake. You see, one cannot hesitate at all when their in the fighting business or else one would find themselves dead. Eventually she made her way to the second gate and that was opened before she could even think twice. Standing opposite of her on the other side of the ring was her brother ho stood, growling at her. What was going on? Why was her brother mad at her.
He lunged toward her and she was too slow. He caught her off guard which was what he wanted. His teeth clasped around her front leg. He bit down hard and made her yelp. What was going on? Did she really have to fight him? He snarled at her and tried to make her fight back but she refused. He let go of her leg and spoke to her. "You will be an easy victory," he said as he slowly cornered her. What was going on? Why did he no longer seem like a brother and more like an enemy? He lunged at her again and that was when she snapped. At that moment she fought back. He wasn't able to get a grip on her again. She slashed at him with her blunt claws and then started to bite him several times. He didn't know what hit him and neither did she. When she finally came to her senses, her brother was laying unconscious in front of her. What had happened? Was he dead? Questions sped through her mind and she closed her eyes tight.
She opened her eyes and she was no longer having a flashback. She blinked and shook her head. She hated remembering her past. She hated the humans who had forced her to fight and most of all she hated other dogs for going around and talking big when they really had no idea what it's really like. The Rottweiler looked up at the moon and growled slightly. There was no use wishing for a blind society of dogs to open their eyes to the cruelty of the humans. They will just have to experience it for themselves.
