your character[/u]
name. Taxi
age. Three years
gender. Female
breed. Husky/shepherd mix
appearance. Taxi has a soft, almost puppy-like appearance, which gives her an innocent sort of beauty, although now that she is an adult, it is just beginning to wear away. She has nice conformation for a mutt, with a slender torso and naturally long limbs. She is an average-sized dog, not particularly tall nor very short. Her tail is normally curled over her back elegantly, although it has a tendency to unfurl when wagging. Her ears start out upright then flop over at the tips, and her eyes are a warm dark chocolate. Her pelt is black and white with a little bit of tan, with a similar pattern to it as that of a Shepherd or Husky. She has one small scar on the side of her neck where a collar cut too tight.
personality. Taxi has always been strong. Not necessarily physically, but mentally. She does not worry without reason, she never gives up, and she is very self-reliant, although with this strength comes pride. Taxi is reluctant to accept help from others and dislikes receiving sympathy or pity, even when it comes from the best wishes of the other. She is tenacious, stubborn, and basically impossible at times. However, when she is not acting this way she is really eager to please and hates disappointing others, even complete strangers. Taxi is very blunt and will rarely delay from getting straight to the point. Her brutal honesty and blatant intrepidity has been known to hurt others sometimes, but she doesn't always realize this.
This young female has a laid-back, charming attitude and a moderately fair temper. It is not impossible to anger her nor is it really easy. When a male catches her interest, she isn't very shy, and can actually be quite flirtatious, even a bit of a seductress at times, although unlike some females, she doesn't seem to have an ulterior motive nor bad intentions. Taxi is very passionate and normally has an opinion on everything that she is not hesitant to share. She can be cold when she is disappointed in a friend and she can be fierce when she is outraged, but the majority of the time, Taxi isn't completely serious. She is optimistic, intelligent, sacrastic, and playful, often trying to lighten up situations with her humor. When it counts the most, she just wants to have fun.
history. Taxi's mother was a purebred Alaskan Husky, a real beauty, she had even done a little bit of showing when she was younger. She had always been a crowd pleaser, a favorite, but when she didn't take best of show in a particularly important show, her owner sold her off. The family she ended up with next was a middle-aged couple with no children, where she was kept outside in a tiny backyard, basically neglected. She met a dog who lived down the street on one of her rare walks to the park, and he began to visit her. They grew quite close, and one day, he dig a hole under her fence and bred with her. He asked Taxi's dam to come with him back under the fence, but she didn't want to leave the place she knew so well. He didn't come back for the next visit, and later Taxi's mother found out that his family had moved.
By the time Taxi was born, her mother had finally decided to run away from her home. And so, from a young age, she was forced to learn the harsh ways of the street. She had two siblings, a male and a female, and they were all very close. One morning Taxi woke up to find them gone, she asked her very worried looking mother, who told her that they had been stolen by a human child. She said she was going to go off looking for them, and that Taxi must stay where she was. And she did. For over three weeks, the yearling stayed where her mother had left her, surviving off scraps she found in the nearby dumpsters, but never did her mother come back for her, nor did she see her siblings again.
Eventually, the young female forced herself to move on. She wandered the streets on her own for a while until she was found by a kind girl who took her in to live with her and her parents. Life was great and Taxi soon developed a strong bond with the girl, but it was short-lived, for then the girl had to go off to collage. Her parents did their best to care for Taxi, but they knew very little about dogs. Like her mother, she was kept outside in their small backyard, chained to her doghouse. And just like her mother, she soon became close friends with a dog down the street, although it didn't seem to be anything more than that, for the two were more like siblings, except closer. They met up every day, except one day, Taxi's best friend didn't come. She worried for him when he didn't show up the next day, or the next day. It was then that she heard from the dog who lived with him that he had been hit by a car.
For months, Taxi mourned for her lost friend. She'd never even got to say goodbye to him, who had surely been her soulmate. Still, she had always been a strong female, and decided not to dwell on this. Instead, she would look to the future, for what else could she do. A couple years passed, and Taxi grew bigger, but her collar did not. Her gone-away girl's parents didn't think to get her a bigger one as she got older, nor did they often check on her other than to feed her once a day and refill her water bowl. Her collar became so tight it was to the point of unbearable pain, to the point that it was almost strangling her. Eventually, she managed to get it off and escaped to the streets. She grew tired of waiting for her dam, she grew tired of waiting for her girl, and now it was time to do something for heself.
sample. A lifeless pigeon hanging loosely from her jaws, Taxi trotted back to where her pack lay in wait, their tails wagging as they saw her approaching with food. The alpha female felt her own tail beginning to wag, uncurling from it's former place on her back. Her vivid chocolate eyes glowed with warmth as she made her way along the street toward them. They looked so content, she noticed, so relaxed. Life was good. Two pups romped with each other, tussling and tumbling along beside their mother who was having a pleasant conversation with another female of the pack, while a mated pair lay basking in the sun together, looking as though they felt no need to speak. Three adolescent males sparred with each other, looking as though they hadn't a care in the world.
Taxi slowed as she neared them, setting the pigeon down beside a small heap of other freshly caught, or found food, including some pizza crust, a half-eaten sandwich, and a rat. The young leader withdrew her head, swiping her tongue along her muzzle where a couple loose feathers still clung. She then turned, her eyes wandering to the Pantheon where quite a few tourists still lingered, even though it was the late afternoon. Soon enough, Taxi would be able to lead her pack up there for the night, but for now, they were to remain here. The Shepherd/Husky mutt reclined gracefully to her haunches beside the conversing females, flashing them a little smile. She didn't join in their conversation right away, instead choosing to observe the back for a moment.
Hearing one of her companions say her name, she turned her head back toward them, her ears tipping forward. Her lips parted in preparation to reply, her clear, soft voice spilling from her throat, vocal chords ringing gently. The females laughed at what she had said, and Taxi grinned back at them before settling onto her stomach in relaxation. Dusk was slowly falling, draping all of Rome in a light shadow. A glance toward the Pantheon told her that a few of the humans had left, leaving a small amount remaining. She turned her head away again, her ears flickering in anticipation. The rose, moving over to the slowly diminishing food pile where she selected the pizza crust, one of the only items still remaining, and began to eat it.
The sky had darkened considerably, and although there didn't seem to be any humans in sight, Taxi thought it best to stick to the routine and check first. She rose, and with a flick of her tail silenced her pack. Slowly and stealthily, she crept up toward the Pantheon, keeping to the shadows the great building cast. After checking thoroughly and making sure all the tourists had gone home for the night, the alpha beckoned to her back, who in turn joined her eagerly. With them at her heels, she started to make the rest of the short journey toward their nighttime shelter. She smiled to herself as they settled in for the night and she curled up with them, grateful for the accumulated body heat they all shared. Taxi rested her head delicately on her fore-paws and released a hardly audible sigh. Just another day in the life of a Pantheon dog.[/size][/blockquote]
